I was late to class today. But I have good reason.
Today the world says goodbye to Maxine Van Lanen. Goodbye grandma, say hi to grandpa for me.
After a horrible battle with Alzheimer's, she fell asleep yesterday. By coincidence, a guitar player was in a nearby room playing and singing "Goodbye, Irene". My mother said it was a beautiful and peaceful way to go as tears fell down her face.
